The MoxCar Minute – Gala celebration, luxury travel and more

It’s always a celebration to remember, and
this year it’s also the 50th Anniversary of the Knoxville Area Urban League. The Equal Opportunity Awards Gala will be
held Oct. 19 at the Knoxville Convention Center and features chart-topping R&B band After 7. “The gala is our largest fundraiser of the
year where we highlight individuals and corporations supporting diversity and inclusion. Come and celebrate at our 50th Anniversary
Gala. See you there!” Readers of Condé Nast Traveler have selected
The Swag and THE TENNESSEAN Personal Luxury Hotel as among the best places to stay in
the South. The Swag, nestled at 5,000 feet in the Smoky
Mountains in North Carolina, is owned by Knoxville couple Annie and David Colquitt and landed
at No. 7 on the list of top resorts. THE TENNESSEAN, with its sweeping views of
downtown Knoxville and The Drawing Room lounge, is No. 25 on the list of top hotels. Book your stay today. Employee volunteers at Knoxville Utilities
Board are spending Public Power Week helping shelter animals and handling grounds work
at local nonprofits. The nationally recognized week in October
encourages companies like KUB to engage with their communities and promote the benefits
of public utilities. Thanks to Pilot Pumpers, Pilot donated $97,173
to the United Way of Greater Knoxville. Nearly 100 local celebrities pumped gas at Knox County Pilot Convenience Stores Oct. 1-3. Pilot donated 5 cents for every gallon of
gasoline and 10 cents of every dollar spent in-store on coffee and more. The MoxCar Minute – news for you.
